  1. What can I use my Stick-e-NotePad for?

The beauty of this product is it’s flexibility. It can handle any type of text information. You decide how to store and group the information by creating and naming NotePads, NotePages, and ListPages. To get ideas for using your Stick-e-NotePad, you can open a binder called 101Uses.stk which will give you a description for each of 101 ideas for using your Stick-e-NotePad. This binder is in your program folder, and it is also available from the Help menupad Tutorial Binders menu  item.

**If you think of other uses for your Stick-e-NotePad, e-mail them to us, and if we include it in our next version of 101 Uses.stk, we’ll mention your name as a reference if you wish, and send you a T-Shirt.

  1. Can I have more than 1 NotePage or ListPage with the same name?

Yes. There is no naming restriction on NotePage or ListPage names other than a 200 character limit.

  1. Can I have 2 or more NotePads with the same name in the same binder?

No. Although there is no restriction on duplicate NotePage or ListPage names, you may not have duplicate NotePad names in the same binder. If you do name a new NotePad or existing NotePad to the same name as an existing one, you won’t loose any information. What will happen is that the pages of both NotePads will be merged together into the same NotePad.

  1. When I first log into my Stick-e-NotePad or my Stick-e-AlarmClock, the program asks me who I am, but after I login, every other Stick-e-NotePad I run doesn’t ask me who I am?

The Stick-e-NotePad and Stick-e-AlarmClock programs "talk" to each other, and share information about who’s using the program. Once you login, and either program knows who you are, you don’t have to login again.

  1. Why can’t I run 2 Stick-e-AlarmClocks?

Your Stick-e-NotePad system only allows 1 person to be logged in at a time. While you are able to run more than one Stick-e-NotePad programs at a time because you may want to open more than 1 binder at a time, there is no reason to have more than 1 AlarmClock open per user which is why the 2nd one won’t run.

  1. I have a lot of information in one binder, but I want to send only some of it to someone else. How can I do that without sending the whole file?

There are several ways to create a binder and place only the information you want in it:

  • If it’s a small amount of information within 1 NotePad, you can select and copy the pages you wish to the clipboard. Then create a new binder, and paste those pages into it.

  • You can launch another Stick-e-NotePad program, create a new binder, and drag and drop a copy of whatever Pages you wish to share into the other Stcik-e-Noteapad. (The program supports OLE drag/Drop)

  • Another method would be to "Save the current binder as" a new name, and, once it’s a new file, delete all the items from that binder you don’t wish to share. **Don’t forget to empty the recycle bin before you share this file, otherwise the other person can still view and restore all the information in the recycle bin

Once you create this new binder (*.stk file) you can share it the same way you can share any file. You can e-mail it to someone, place it on a floppy, or post it on a network or shared folder.

  1. I want to sort my NotePages & ListPages in a different order than by Color or alphabetically. How can I do this?

Although the only way you can sort your Pages is by color, by date/time created or alphabetically, you can fool the program into sorting your information any way you wish. Simply begin each NotePage or ListPage name with a pagenumber. You can number the pages however you wish, and this will sort those pages alphabetically, but according to the page number you entered

**Don’t forget to allow a sufficient number of digits for your page numbers. If you have between 1-99 pages, number them 01, 02, 03… because alphatetically, numbering them 1,2,3,4,5…10,11,… will sort them as follows: 1, 10, 11…, 2, 20, 21…, 3, 30, 31,…

**Note: For more tips on how to get the program to work for you like this, open the binder titled TipsTricks.stk. This binder is in your program folder, and it is also available from the Help menupad Tutorial Binders menu item.

**If you think of other tips & tricks for your Stick-e-NotePad, e-mail them to us, and if we include it in our next version of TipsTricks.stk, we’ll mention your name as a reference if you wish, and send you a T-Shirt.

  1. I wanted to search all NotePages & ListPages for the text Tom, but my search returned the word tomorrow also. Why?

The search engine will find ALL occurrences of the characters "T" + "o" + "m" next to each other, no matter what is to the left  or right of those characters. That search will also find a match cusTOMers. If you only want to find the word/name Tom, you  should select the "match whole word" option for your search. Checking this option will return a match only if the text you are searching for is a word by itself, NOT part of another word.

  1. What is a clone?

A clone is an IDENTICAL copy of a NotePage or ListPage. Whenever you make changes to a cloned NotePage or ListPage, those changes will show up in ALL those NotePages or ListPages which are cloned together. You can have as any NotePages or ListPages in a clone chain as you wish. Changing ANY one of them will change them all. This feature allows you to keep an identical copy information in more than 1 place at a time. You may want to keep a NotePad of ALL your customers, and another NotePad of only your most important customers. By keeping a clone of that customer’s information in both places, it may be more convenient for you.

**Note: When you unclone a NotePage or ListPage, you are only removing that one Page from the chain. All other clones will remain in tact. If there are only 2 Pages cloned together, uncloning either in this case will unclone both.

  1. If someone else has a binder open on the network, I can open it on my PC, but I can’t make changes. Is there a      problem?

There is no problem. The first person to open a binder has the ability to view AND make changes to any Page in the binder, but anyone who opens the binder after that can only view the binder. Once you open the binder in Read Only mode, in order to make changes, you would have to have the person who has the binder open with the ability to make changes close the binder, and then you would have to reopen it.

  1. The font is a little small on my main interface and difficult for me to read. Is there anything I can do about that?

Your Stick-e-NotePad allows you to set the font and size for your main form. To do this, open "My Preferences" menu item from the Tools menupad. You can then change the font on the System Settings 1 page of that form.

**Note: While you have "My Preferences" open, you may want to take a look at the other 60 or so options you can set to customize the way your program looks and works.

  1. I want to make green the most important color when I am sorting my Pages by color. How can I do that?

Your Stick-e-NotePad allows you to set the priority for each color a NotePage or ListPage can be. To do this, open "My Preferences" menu item from the Tools menupad. You can then select the color you wish to adjust from the list on the General Preferences page, and move it up or down in sorting priority by pressing the Up or Down arrows accordingly. Repeat this step for each color you wish to change, and when the colors appear as you wish, save your changes.

**Note: While you have "My Preferences" open, you may want to take a look at the other 60 or so options you can set to customize the way your program looks and works.

  1. I want my main binder to load whenever I start my program. How can I do that?

Your Stick-e-NotePad offers you several options when starting. One of them is specifying a particular binder to be loaded when your program is launched. To specify this binder, open "My Preferences" menu item from the Tools menupad. Goto the Startup preferences page of this form, and select the second option in the Startup Binder frame, and point to the binder you want loaded.

**Note: While you have "My Preferences" open, you may want to take a look at the other 60 or so options you can set to customize the way your program looks and works.

  1. What is QuickPrinting?

QuickPrinting is the ability to send a print job directly to the printer of your choice using a report layout of your choice by pressing a button without having to answer any questions or see a dialogue box. You can setup your QuickPrint options in "My Preferences" area available from the Tools menupad on the System Settings 2 page. Depending on the Report Layout you choose, the printer which will be automatically used is specified in that layout.

**Note: While you have "My Preferences" open, you may want to take a look at the other 60 or so options you can set to customize the way your program looks and works.

  1. I want to get a group of NotePages & ListPages about a particular topic all together from all over my binder into one  place. Is there a quick way to do this?

Yes. Do a search on a keyword which would probably be in all such NotePages & ListPages. Then, from the Find form, select those Pages which you are looking for, and copy, or move them into a new NotePad using the tools available to you on the Find form. You will then have all those Pages grouped together in one NotePad.

  1. What does Drag/Drop mode mean?

Drag/Drop mode is the operation which will happen by default when you do a drag/drop operation. You can change the operation "on the fly" by modifying it with the keyboard.

  • Holding the Ctrl & Shift keys down while you are dragging will result in a Clone operation regardless of the Drag/Drop Mode

  • Holding the Ctrl key down while you are dragging will result in a Copy operation regardless of the Drag/Drop Mode

  • Holding the Shift key down while you are dragging will result in a Move operation regardless of the Drag/Drop Mode

**Note: You cannot Clone NotePages or ListPages between binders. OLE Drag/Drop operations between 2 open
Stick-e-NotePads will default to a Copy operation.

  1. . Every time I delete items, or drag/drop items, I don’t want an annoying confirmation message. I don’t need that  safety net. Can I get rid of it?

You can turn off certain system messages To set your preferences, open "My Preferences" menu item from the Tools menupad. Goto the System Settings 2 page of this form.

**Note: While you have "My Preferences" open, you may want to take a look at the other 60 or so options you can set to customize the way your program looks and works.

  1. . I want to be reminded at 2 different times about a particular item in one of my NotePages. Can I set more than one
      alarm for that NotePage?

You can set as many alarms as you wish for a given NotePage or ListPage.

  1. . I Cut a bunch of NotePages & ListPages to the clipboard, but, before I realized, I put something else on the  clipboard, and lost all those Pages to paste. Can I get them back?

YES. Whenever you Cut Pages, until they are pasted, they are temporarily placed in the Recycle Bin. If they are never pasted again, they will be sitting in the recycle bin, and can be restored to their original locations from there.

  1. . If I delete or cut a Page from a NotePad, does that affect the alarms set for that Page?

Yes, it does. If NotePages or ListPages are Cut without being pasted, or are deleted, and they are placed in the recycle bin, any alarms attached to those pages are placed there also. To get the alarms back, you must restore the Page.

**Note: If you want to set an alarm which is NOT attached to any NotePage or ListPage, open "My Alarms…" menu item from the Tools menupad. From there, you can set unattached alarms.

  1. . I am sharing my PC with other people (in family or office). How does my Stick-e-NotePad know it’s me for  preferences and Alarms? Does the program look like the last person left it, or does it save my settings? Are  everyone’s alarms displayed for everyone?

When you login, the program loads YOUR preferences & alarms. That’s the reason for the login. This way, you can change anything you want, and the program will restore your settings and alarms exactly as you last left them. You won’t interfere with anyone else, and they won’t interfere with you.

    25. When I close the program, sometimes Stick-e-NotePad gives me options. What does that mean?

Depending on your preferences, and what programs are open, Stick-e-NotePad or Stick-e-AlarmClock may give you the option of shutting down all programs which show you as being the logged in user, or just shutting down the current program. If you only close 1 program while others are running, and you leave the machine, others will receive your alarms, be able to set and change your alarms, and rearrange your settings.

  1. . I set an alarm, and it didn’t go off. Why not?

Your Stick-e-AlarmClock may not be running. You can set alarms using your Stick-e-AlarmClock or your Stick-e-NotePad. In order for those alarms to "go off", your Stick-e-AlarmClock must be running. You’ll know your Stick-e-AlarmClock is running when you see a small AlarmClock icon in the System Tray of your taskbar.

  1. . I am experiencing strange behavior with my Stick-e-NotePad program and other programs.

  • The Fonts of some forms appear very large

  • The program(s) don’t respond

  • Some buttons don’t have pictures

You are probably attempting toor have run too many programs at once. Your system became dangerously low on resources, and is unstable. To recover from this situation, close all open programs and restart your computer. To correct this situation from happening in the future, you may:

  • Add more memory to your system

  • free up disk space on your hard disk, and possibly increase your swap file size

  • Not run as many programs simultaneously.
